Walked out around seven thirty. Cold enough for the jacket. Stopped at La Selva and ordered a flat white. Sixty-five pesos. The milk was warm again.
Walked to the market entrance. A woman was selling nopales from a crate. I bought enough for two meals. Fifteen pesos. Carried them back and left them in the room.
Sat on the bed and read for an hour. The Sheltering Sky. The book is slow but I am still reading.
Went out around one. Found a comedor on Belisario Domínguez. Caldo de res with tortillas. Fifty pesos. The broth was thin.
Walked the andador. Bought water from a tienda near the plaza. Ten pesos. Back to the guesthouse by three. Paid for another night. Two hundred pesos.
Lay down and read until the light went. I could hear someone washing a car in the street.
Went out around six thirty. Found a taco stand on Guadalupe Victoria. Pollo. Three tacos, forty pesos. Walked back.
The window is open. I can hear a dog barking a few streets over.
